I spent four weeks interning for City of Eugene's Library, Rec & Cultural Services Marketing department. I experienced writing in a journalist style, producing social media content, creating graphics & capturing pictures/videos with professional-grade cameras. Through this internship, I learned many skills, but I am most thankful for the experiences I was able to take away!
Graphic Design
I was able to further enhance my graphic design skills during this internship. I communicated what visual needs needed to be met with clients from the Library and Cultural Service branches. Getting a "behind the scenes" look at the necessary communication skills a Graphic Designer needs to be equipped with was insightful.
I designed multiple stickers for the library! My goal was to capture the essence of Eugene in a way that would appeal to both adults and kids. I was also tasked with translating the text and reformatting the design for the Spanish-speaking community here in Eugene.
Photography
One of my favorite takeaways from my internship experience was learning how to operate high-quality camera equipment. Definitely not as easy as it looks, but I am glad I was able to learn
Library
Here are the images I captured around the library and at library-hosted events. Some of my pictures even made the City of Eugene website!
rec
Rec was by far my favorite branch to capture pictures for! I learned how to manually change camera settings to best capture images of indoor + outdoor activities. Hopefully, some of these pictures will be featured in next summer's Rec Guide!
cultural services
I was able to capture moments from various events put on by the Cultural Services department.
The first couple of images showcase a bike tour featuring  Eugene's many murals. Quite possibly my most stressful day on the job, considering I biked with an expensive camera around my neck!
Writing
summer reading blog
Wrote a blog post for City of Eugene Public Library's Summer Reading program. Interviewed a library employee and was able to share a behind-the-scenes story featuring the library's largest program.
